Dick Fisher Bell Sculptures

In my sculptural work I like to use the varying forces of wind and weather to explore the dynamics of sound, motion and balance. These pieces usually involve one bell or several, tuned to sound in random harmonies in response to the wind. The bells shown here represent early work as well as more recent projects.

Currently in progress is a Wind Bell sculpture for the Kennebec River Rail Trail, designed for a pedestrian and bike trail in Augusta, Maine. Approximately 15' high, it will include 5 bronze bells. A wind vane will operate a central rotating structure to sound the bells. This should be complete in 2009. (See drawing detail below.)
